This is a true cowboy of the 21st century. After having one of the most beautiful winters in a long time, I called Karson Anderson. “Fresh snow has just fallen! Now is our opportunity to photograph you and your beautiful horses in their element.” This 21st Century Cowboy Portrait went incredibly well. We had a small window to take these pictures while the snow was fresh and beautiful. The horses’ winter coats were dazzling in the sun. Karson was dressed as a cowboy gent with black hat that would make Clint Black jealous. The cool evening was going to be awesome for pictures with his best friends.
Horse Whisperer
He knows each of his stunning horses name, temperament, diet, and needs. He gives each one his undivided attention, whispering words of praise, of training, of love, and of gratitude. Telling me about each horse’s story brought a smile to his face and mine. From a thirty year old quarter horse to a gentle, Karson knows the rhythm of each one’s heart.
From training his two incredible sheep dogs, to running 20 plus heads of sheep, Karson’s love for livestock shines. At Cross E Ranch, he manages and cares for a wide variety of farm animals. At Cross E’s Baby Animal Festival you will see him chasing piglets, feeding baby goats, and giving teenage workers words of encouragement. He’s pretty awesome and loves what he does.
Karson Anderson and I share a reverence and respect for God’s four legged creatures. My family and I were able to take pictures with his beautiful horses a month prior. I’ve never been given more compliments on a photograph before. It’s all do to a beautiful setting with beautiful animals. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to photograph this gentleman in his element. This 21st century cowboy portrait has got to be one of my favorites thus far.
